Mountain Bikes on the PCT?

I don't support mountain biking on the PCT.  All other trails in non-wilderness areas are open to mountain bikes which should be enough for them to have "fun."  The bikes move too fast startling hikers and equestrians along the PCT.  I can see accidents and bike malfunctions costing rural counties big bucks for remote rescues.

Here is a group that wants to open the PCT to mountain biking.  They are modeling their campaign on California's Share the Road Program to share public highways with bicycles.  SharingThePct wraps it self in stewardship and partnering.  If this group is successful, the tone of the PCT will change for the worse.  The PCT is not just another recreation resource to be consumed and shared by all with no restrictions.
